Cadbury is taking a page out of the Coca-Cola book this Christmas and sending its own fleet of trucks out to unsuspecting cities across the UK. In their 2015 Christmas advert, the lorries, filled with chocolate, assemble to form an advent calendar all to the tune of the Thunderbirds music theme. The chocolate brand is delivering the “ultimate advent countdown”, with each truck labelled in a big gold number from one to twenty-four for each of the 24 days of Christmas.
The purple trucks will be sent from the Cadbury HQ in Bournville out to 24 UK towns, giving away chocolate treats and spreading joy to those lucky enough to be around.
The locations are being kept a closely-guarded secret, in contrast with Coca-Cola who have already revealed their upcoming stops following a Twitter teaser.
Their trademark red trucks debuted in Coke’s 1995 Christmas advert and have since become a Christmas icon in their own right. This year, Coca-Cola are sending their fleet on a nationwide tour in the run up to December 25th. The lorries will be making 46 stops, ending up in Paddington Central and Leicester Square, London, on the 22nd and 23rd of December.
To celebrate 20 years of the “Holidays are Coming” campaign, a member of the public had the chance to get behind the wheel of a Coca-Cola Christmas truck for the launch of their nationwide tour, while others could still win a visit from the truck to their own home, complete with a special delivery of Christmas goodies.
Whether it’s chocolate treats or cans of Coke, Christmas truck tours are all about spreading the spirit of sharing. At ZappiStore London we are sure looking forward to catching both trucks when they come to town, and if you live in the UK, you should keep an eye out as well – with the holidays around the corner, chances are a truck is heading your way.
